Julian Cohen was called to the Bar in England in 1990 and joined the London construction practice of Pinsent Masons in 1993. He moved to Hong Kong in 1998 with the firm, leaving as a Partner in 2009. He started practice at the Hong Kong Bar in 2010 and founded Resolution Chambers in 2021.
Julian Cohen has over 30 years’ specialist experience of heavyweight international construction, engineering and energy disputes and arbitrations across Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa and Europe.
He is familiar with Common Law, Civil Code and Sharia based jurisdictions and arbitrations.
He has experience of most major arbitration rules including UNCITRAL, HKIAC, ICC, LCIA, SIAC, DIAC, QICCA, DIFC, SCC.
Julian Cohen is ranked as a top arbitration practitioner (Who’s Who Legal: China and Hong Kong). He is also recognised as one of the world’s leading construction lawyers, and is ranked by legal directories as being one of Hong Kong’s leading construction barristers (Doyle’s Guide and The Legal 500) .
As well as acting as counsel / advocate, Julian also sits regularly as an arbitrator in the Asia Pacific and Middle East Regions.
Julian's experience as an arbitrator includes both sitting as a sole arbitrator, a wing member on three member tribunals and as presiding arbitrator. He has sat under ICC, DIAC, HKIAC, LCIA, QCCI, UNCITRAL Rules with seats in Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Europe.
